Ilya Snr, a White Russian, rode the waves of a tumultuous historic sea… and survived. Staying one step ahead of the Russian Revolution, Stalin and the Japanese invasion of China, Ilya Snr’s life reflects some of the greatest historical turmoil of the 20th century.
His son and grandson remember him, and the life that he made possible for them in Australia.
